Martin “Marty” Henry Zolkoski was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 13, 1956, to Ed and Marilyn Zolkoski. He graduated from Poth High School in 1974 and received a baseball scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin. After playing with them for two years, he transferred to St. Mary’s University where he continued playing baseball and received a marketing degree from St. Mary’s University in 1978.
After receiving his degree, he began his career in the energy field with Valero Natural Gas, where he worked for twenty years. He was also associated with other organizations such as Koch Energy Services of Houston and Lewis Energy Group in San Antonio. At the time of his death in 2005, he was employed as a Vice President of Commercial Development for TexStar Field Services of San Antonio.
